The Hallmark channel’s “Count down to Christmas” is starting this Friday. That’s right, this Friday, October 23rd. Even though it’s a bit early, who doesn’t love a sappy Hallmark movie, where everything ends in fairytale-esque flair? So, with the advent of the count down. You know what that means. It’s time for a holiday gift-giving guide! Here we’ll explore 25 helpful holiday gifts for NPs.

I always find it kind of funny that people tend to think that nurses and NPs want gifts with their titles plastered everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, the mug with RN or NP scrawled affectionately across the front is cute and functional and perhaps a great graduation gift. But, after working in healthcare for a time and becoming a bit weathered and a tad cynical, you just want gifts that scream one of three things: comfort, solace, or convenience once the day is over while you cry into the said mug.

At that point, you’re probably not wanting any reminders of your work title within immediate view. Not to say that NPs and healthcare workers don’t love their professions. But we all need a break here and there. Let’s dive in and find 25 insanely helpful holiday gifts for nurse practitioners that they’ll actually love year after year.

3. The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living

Cost:  $15.43

Why we love it:  An instant mood booster.  From the back cover:

Get consciously cozy.

The Danes are famously the happiest people in the world, and hygge is a cornerstone of their way of life. Hygge (pro-nounced Hoo-ga) loosely translates as a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. You know hygge when you feel it. It is when you are cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one, or sharing comfort food with your closest friends. It is those crisp blue mornings when the light through your window is just right. It is about gratitude and savoring the simple pleasures in life. In short, it is the pursuit of everyday happiness.

Who better than Meik Wiking to be your guide to all things hygge? Meik is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen and has spent years studying the magic of Danish life and what makes people happy. From bringing out the candles and spending time with your tribe to giving yourself a break from the demands of healthy living (cake is most definitely hygge), Meik’s beautiful, inspiring book will help you to be more hygge.
